Illinois 114

The Illinois Department of Transportation has launched a transportation planning study to examine potential improvements of approximately 7.5 miles of IL 114 in Kankakee County from the intersection with Illinois Routes 1 & 17 and the Indiana state line. Work is expected to include rehabilitation of the existing pavement due to pavement condition. Other improvements may include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, drainage upgrades or repairs, geometric improvements, curb and gutter, lighting, traffic signals, structure preservation, and safety improvements.

Who

The Illinois Department of Transportation is leading this study.

What

​

A transportation study conducted in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. The project is currently in Phase I: Preliminary Engineering and Environmental Study.

When

​

Launched in 2022, Phase I is expected to conclude in late 2024.

Why

​

The existing pavement requires rehabilitation. The Phase I study will also evaluate the need for safety improvements, bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, ADA improvements, drainage upgrades or repairs, as well as curb and gutter, lighting, traffic signals and structure preservation needs.
